There are so many little things you can change around the home that will make a big difference on your monthly electric bills. It is hard to know where to start, so I always recommend starting with the low hanging fruit. Look for air leaks and seal them up. Usually the biggest leaks are not the first places you think to look. The attic access is a huge hole, but think about how big the hole is if you add up all the recessed lights in the ceiling or all the electrical outlets in the walls. Making your house air tight will improve your indoor air quality, reduce your energy consumption, and give you more energy (better indoor air quality). UNLESS you start taking small steps you will never see a big difference.
